If you’re involved with a masquerade party, either hosting or attending, then you need a masquerade mask. Usually these are inexpensive with prices running from a couple dollars to more than a hundred. So if you’re on a tight budget or need to purchase a large quantity, it doesn’t have to break the bank. There are several good ways to get your hands on some cheap masquerade masks, which are described below.

The first good option is buying plain masquerade masks at your local craft store. As long as the store is a decent size, they will usually carry them year round. The standard plain mask is just a white, half face mask, but you can easily make them more exciting by painting them or adding decorations and accessories. I’ve seen these in stores where you can get three of these for a dollar. It is unlikely you’ll find a mask cheaper anywhere else.

If you’re not excited about buying plain masks because of the extra work required to fancy them up, then your options are a bit different. A good time to shop for cheap masquerade masks is in early November. Many stores stock up on all things costumes during October preparing for Halloween and sell them off cheaply after the holiday. Since a masquerade party can happen any time of year, plan to stock up on a nice mask or two. If you time it right, you can get a discount of up to 75% with this method.

Then there is always the choice to make them yourself. Although this requires some work, it will definitely save you some money. You can either start with the plain masks that were discussed above or create the base material yourself. Usually a heavy card stock will work well, but people also do well with other options like paper mache. After you have the base material, you just fill up the mask with accessories of your choice. The other benefit of making your own masquerade masks is that you can be creative with things like the shape of the mask so that you know your mask is unique at the party.

After that, the other good option is to try to buy the in bulk or wholesale quantities. It can be difficult to track down suppliers that have cheap masquerade masks for sale, but the savings usually justify the pain of searching.
