Halloween Masquerade Party

A masquerade party for Halloween isn’t much different from a regular masquerade party except for the season and perhaps decorations. The rules can be quite different about what types of masks are acceptable to wear. For example, scary masks typically aren’t allowed or encouraged for masked balls and parties at other times of the year. However, for Halloween scary costumes may actually be encouraged.

Because of this variance in rules, make sure to check with the host about costume rules before you pick out your mask and costume. If scary disguises are allowed you can pretty much treat it as a regular Halloween costume party, but if they aren’t you can expect that the party will be a little bit fancier.

Another thing to verify with the host is whether a matching costume is expected. If you only need to find a mask for the party, then you’ll have to plan your outfit based on the other dress code rules. A fancy Halloween masquerade party will be more like a masquerade ball with gowns for women and suits or tuxedos for men. Most Halloween parties aren’t nearly so fancy. Generally either a costume or casual masquerade dress will do fine in combination with your choice of the money styles of masquerade ball masks.

You may want to bring something to the party such as a food or drink item to share with the other guests. Because this is a Halloween themed party you can get even more creative with your food. People use food items to simulate gross things, such as peeled grapes for eyeballs or buttered pasta as intestines. You could even bring grape or cranberry juice as blood.

Halloween is a time to get crazy and pretend to be something completely different from your everyday lifestyle. Go crazy when picking out your mask and masquerade costume so that you’ll have a blast at the party.
